For a number of years, TEACO has advocated the construction of a major off-shore airport in the Thames Estuary (MARINAIR) as the prime means of providing the necessary capacity to meet air transport demand to serve the south-east of England, for the indefinite future; and has been negotiating the necessary commitment of funds to enable this radical and visionary approach to airports planning to be realised.
MARINAIR will be funded entirely by private investment. There is nothing unusual regarding the required construction techniques. Similar projects in other parts of the world have been completed or are in the process of construction in conditions far more difficult and costly than those to be encountered at the MARINAIR site.
Funding for the Thames Estuary Airport and associated developments has been arranged and is committed and TEACO is ready to implement funding, subject to Government acceptance of the MARINAIR proposal as an option in the consultation process.
The MARINAIR project will be developed as a fully commercial enterprise, funded by private investment, whilst underlying philosophy driving the project determines that the majority of the profits derived from the development shall be dedicated to humanitarian causes in the United Kingdom and worldwide.
